I found out on Tumblr this morning that Adobe was letting people download programs like  Creative Suite 2 and Adobe Illustrator for free.
So if your like me and been using Programs like Photoshop elements and PSP 8 for the last couple of years and want to try something new, here's the Link:

docs.google.com/document/d/1wo…

I would suggest just downloading the Adobe Illustrator first to see how you like it. Also it doesn't have the brush sets that the newer ones have so you might want to download a few brush sets. These are the one's I got:

www.melsbrushes.co.uk/?p=177

and one from DA:

Lineart Brush -updated by jimro

A few notes:

When I save as a Photoshop file, you have to export it. And when you do that, the first box on is labeled color mode. It always has CMYK , and everytime I try to save that it says I don't have enough memory. I don't know if that's true because when I click that box and save it as a RGB file, it works file in my other programs.

I saw this before and I didn't think I needed it since I already have Adobe Creative Suite CS5 for my iMac but now that my iMac is at the Apple Store for repairs, I need this to download on the one of PCs I have. So thanks for keeping the info.

... I think I'm going to stick to the paint editor I have now. @.@ I'm confused whether it's free or pirated or has under-the-counter fees. Besides, I already have a pretty good program that is a start to doing digital art.

But thanks for showing us this! =D

They're trying to sell a service for CS2 for about $50 a month.

For just under two of those months, you can buy Serif's Draw Plus [link] and install it without a paid subscription!!

Adobe is an overpriced and bloated. Serif is so much better and much much cheaper.

That's for CS6, not CS2. They're terminating whatever remaining support they had left of CS2 so they can encourage users to upgrade to CS6 instead.

Adobe was never giving out CS2 for free. The story from Forbes: [link]

"On behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated …

You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!

What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don’t require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available. "

Basically you have the program, but you legally you cannot make things for profit without license. Not that people can tell what version your using, or know. But if you get big enough, Adobe will probably investigate by asking you what your license is.

I used Illustrator back in the day, it is an ok program when you want to make your own custom shapes but I find Photoshop is better for free flow painting. Over the years the two have mixed and matched some of their functions together so sometimes you only need one or the other.

I think this might have been a response to the growing numbers of artists using open source programs like Inkscape, Gimp and MyPaint. It certainly makes sense to get users hooked on Adobe's proprietary nonsense than have something always available like open source.

A subscription to Photoshop cost a little under $50 a Month and you ha access to the latest Creative Suits tools such as Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator. I plan to start using it when I get mt finances in order.

That was around the net it seems you need an activation code to use it. But that activation code was emailed to users who still use those programs but need it for newer puters...

I have bad memories with Illustrator. I surprisingly had a much more fun time with vector graphics in Adobe Flash.

Turns out it's not really free now, they just forgot to say you can use product keys without activating now.
